Where is it ? - C64
A downloadable game
Hi Fans :)
Here is 'Whereisit?' my first game ever done for C64 :)
👉 The project
WhereIsIt is a small prototype born from my recent dive into discovering the Commodore 64. I wanted to explore the machine of our childhood, understand how it works, and learn its tools step by step. This project is the result of that adventure. It’s a rewritten port based on the earlier versions I released on other platforms.
👉 A challenge
Built as a personal challenge, WhereIsIt is a simple puzzle game exploring the C64’s architecture, limitations, and possibilities. This version has been rewritten using OSCAR64 by Dr. MortalWombat, great THANKS for your work
👉 The Prototype
The prototype still uses placeholder graphics created during my learning process, but it already includes two game modes, a bonus stage, and a set of levels to explore. Development is ongoing, and I continue improving the game as I learn more about the platform.
💬 Help improve the game
To improve WhereIsIt, your feedback, ideas, and help are very welcome :)
👉 What next ?
- Include a story mode
- Find one or more different Bonus stage
- Bugs hunting
- ...

ABOUT THE GAME
🕹️ GOAL
You have to find the correct 3x3 pattern in the Game Area. Your searching skills are being tested to the max.
🕹️ GAME MODES
* Normal : Time is your enemy — don’t rest on your laurels. The faster you find the correct matrix, the higher your score will be.
* Hard : Seconds don’t behave like real seconds anymore, and time runs much faster. Tension rises quickly, so stay sharp!
Difficulty progression in both mode :
time accelerates as you advance through the levels: gently in Normal mode, more aggressively in Hard mode ;)
🕹️ CHALLENGING STAGE
After completing the 10 rounds (in each game mode), you'll access to a 'BONUS STAGE' :
MEMORY FLASH :
Memorize the 3x3 pattern.
Before time runs out, find it in the Game Area and chain five hits to earn the ultimate perfect bonus
🕹️ H.U.D
Everything is clear except maybe the ‘pause’
Pause = 10 (you can only press 'pause' button 10 times per round)
🕹️ CONTROLS
Joystick - Move cursor
Fire - Select the correct pattern
'P' - To pause game and Fire to continue the game
'F1' - Quit game and go back to menu

Great idea, I don't remember playing anything like it before. I added it to my video along with other games released in March.
Many thanks 😉
Thank you! Whereisit? (2026, Eric M./ Ricco59)
thx to you for the link ;)
Hi Ricco59! Nice first game!
If you develop it further, please let me know, maybe we can include a new version on our magazine cover disk? My email: simmonsdavidau@gmail.com
HI
For now, the game is still in its early stages.
I still have a lot to do: adding a story mode, one or two bonus stages, finding the music, the graphics, removing all the bugs, testing the game… in short, a lot :)
That said, thank you for your interest in Whereisit.
It's true that it's my first C64 game, but I'm really happy with the progress so far :)
See you
Eric -Ricco59-
Okay, sounds good, if you do make a new preview, let me know. My email: simmonsdavidau@gmail.com
Nice game!
Many thx :)
For a first preview, it is really a good one. Maybe you can add some sfx, when you grabbed the good pattern for example.
I will follow this game and play it regularly :)
Hi Fred,
I wish I could, but I have absolutely no idea how to make sounds or music. I’m not a SID artist, or even a GFX artist — and it shows, haha!
Thanks for your message and for your interest in the game.
Eric
It was just wishes. Your first game is really good. Maybe the next will get sounds and music? :D
